NSSI Hosted a Work Meeting of the International Consortium SAFE

From 18th to 22nd January 2016 the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) hosted a workshop of the members of the international consortium "Social Agencies for Future Europe" (SAFE).

During the event representatives of the social security institutions involved in the project, discussed the results of the test applications of the European system for electronic exchange of social security information (EESSI) during the last year and talked over the step-by-step action plan of the consortium for 2016. The workshops of the consortium are held on a rotating basis in different member countries.

In his welcoming speech the Governor of NSSI Mr Biser Petkov emphasized that the roadmap of EESSI is a top priority for the Institute's work in the recent years. He pointed out that NSSI has realized five projects focused on various aspects of the electronic data exchange, funded by EC and NSSI’s own budget. "It is important to note that the pros of the electronic data exchange have become obvious even before the official introduction of the system", said Mr Petkov.

The consortium "Social Agencies for Future Europe" was created in 2013 with the financial support of the European Commission and it consists of 13 social security institutions of the EU, including the National Social Security Institute. The main purpose of the project is testing of different systems of electronic exchange of data among the competent security institutions in Europe, aiming as a result the integrated for all EESSI which is due to start operating in 2018 under Regulation 883/2004 of the European Parliament.
